But after our board and train programs, you’ll laugh at those chaotic days. Your dog will learn basic obedience like sit, stay, come, and down, plus good manners like waiting before bolting out the door and greeting people and other dogs politely.

In our larger programs, your dog will even learn to behave without a leash, with personalized care in a small group setting. They’ll join us for fun activities like swimming, kayaking, hiking, and playing at the park, all while becoming well-behaved and part of our family.

Essentials 5 Day

Your dog is good, but a few issues like pulling on the leash or occasional accidents still need work. Typically used as a refresher, or a jumpstart program.

Our Essentials Program offers a budget-friendly kickstart to your training journey. No more pulling on walks, not following commands at home, or stealing food off the counter!

We'll quickly help address issues like:

Imagine walking your calm dog to the bus stop to greet your kids, or having friends over without worrying about jumping, barking, or nipping.

This Essentials Plus Program is a step up from the Essentials, and giving you the time and tools to teach calm leash manners and control, even around distractions. We’ll work with your whole family to create a peaceful life with your dog.

Double the length of the Essentials, we can work on things like:

Q: What kind of behaviors can you help with?

A: Great question. Board and trains can cover a wide range of behaviors, as well as reach some goals you maybe haven’t thought of.

Some common issue are: Leash pulling, jumping, barking, reactivity, anxiety, not listening, crate issues, door bolting, and more — especially the things that make daily life stressful.

But we also focus on your goals. Like going on walks as a family, taking your dog to events, camping, or on hikes off of a leash. Having the trust that your dog won’t take off on you, and come back 100% of the time.

We also focus on the lifestyle you want with your dog, not just commands. We help them function in your every day life with ease, and less stress for you.

Q: Will the training actually transfer to me when my dog comes home?

Q. What happens after my dog completes the board and train program?

A. Many families continue their dog’s progress with our daycare program, which offers continued socialization, enrichment and playtime, as well as keeping up on their training.

Q. Can my dog stay longer if I am traveling?

A. Absolutely! If you need extended care, we offer boarding services so your dog can remain in a safe and familiar place, as well as get in some extra training time while they are here.

I'm so thankful for Heather at Project K9. I would absolutely recommend anyone use her for training. She probably saved my dog's life 😂 I adopted a heeler mix shelter dog about a year ago. My dog, Rufus, struggles with anxiety and he had a head injury before I adopted him, which we believe has contributed to some major behavioral issues and learning limitations. This head injury also left him blind in his left eye. Because Rufus was always so scared by everything, I had a really difficult time correcting bad behavior. After over a year of dealing with his seriously reactive behavior and irrational fears, I found Heather. Before Rufus stayed with Heather for a 5 week board and train session, my dog was a disaster. I couldn't do normal things without Rufus freaking out (things like making phone calls, vacuuming my house, using a blow dryer, using a pepper grinder, having guests over to my house). If he didn't like something that was happening, he would often bark and pace from room to room, or he would "stalk" people and bite people to try and control them. He never hurt anyone, but he absolutely put his mouth on several people because he wanted to control their behavior. Rufus has been home from training for almost 3 weeks now. He's not perfect and I absolutely have to keep up on the training and the tools Heather gave me, but he is like a different dog. He still gets nervous when something really surprises him, but his reactions are much more mild and he recovers much quicker. I can make a phone call without him barking! I can have guests over at my house and he lays on his bed rather than trying to control them! I can vacuum my house or use a blow dryer and he ignores me! He really seems much happier and is able to relax more frequently than I ever would have imagined. Heather is awesome and I am so happy I found her. 10/10 would recommend. ❤️

We've worked with Heather for 3+ years now (and 2 dogs). We've done in person and online sessions. Heather trains the owners as much as the dogs. She gives you the tools and education to balance your dog and keep them balanced. What is especially great about Heather is how much she truly cares about her clients and their dogs. She is always available for advice and even emotional support. After training if you need pointers or to better understand something, she will be there to help. Throughout working with her we have shared the highs and the lows, happiness and tears. She was there for us throughout it all! I highly recommend her and her programs.

We adopted a rescue dog and were having problems with dog aggression. He's a small little boston terrier that was convinced he was a malinois, thought he could be the boss of everyone. He loves people and is the sweetest thing, but we were afraid to take him in public for his own safety. We contacted Heather after a bad experience with another local trainer who's methods were very aggressive and made him worse. We left him in Heather's care and couldn't be happier we did. She took care of him as if he were her own. She trained him on an e collar (one that she showed us was more like hitting a funny bone and wasn't painful), and by the time he got home he was a totally different dog. His resource guarding had stopped, he walked even better on a leash, and we felt comfortable enough taking him to the oregon coast for a family vacation because now when dogs come around he ignores them or looks to us for guidance. He is so much happier and we are so grateful we trusted Project K9. He no longer rushes the door when guests come over and I can put him in a "place" and have them come in and he won't move, it has been so amazing. If you're looking for a trainer I would only trust Project K9!

We love Heather. She is always there to help us in any way she can. She has helped us calm our hyper active Blue Heeler, she has taught us out to be advocates for our dog, and she has even come to our vet visits to insure we were getting the right pain regimen for our dog. She is the best trainer and I know she truly loves animals.
